Pioneer and Endicott buildings collection, 1888-1890.

The Pioneer Building collection consists of two sets of printed and bound copies of floor plans, 91 sheets of elevations and plans, of which 59 are hectograph prints, 31 are blueprints and one ink-on-paper original. These contain both architectural and structural drawings. The Endicott Building collection is a mixture of originals and prints, including sixty sheets of ink-on-linen originals, shop drawings for the iron and steel structural components drawn by the New Jersey Steel & Iron Company as their order #1487. Thirty-seven sheets are hectograph prints on heavy paper stock, backed with linen cloth; many are highlighted with watercolor. The remainder are ink on paper (61 sheets), pencil on paper (26 sheets), or blueprints (5 sheets). As with the Pioneer Building, all drawings contain elevations, floor plans and architectural and structural details.

The Pioneer Press Building (now known as the Pioneer Building) was designed by architect Solon Beman of Chicago. It was erected in downtown St. Paul in 1888-1889 to house the offices and presses of the St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper.
